Golden Bear Chiropractic is open to everyone, and it was intentionally built to be affirming for LGBTQIA+ patients, including the Leather and Kink communities. The clinical care is the same thorough, hands-on chiropractic care every patient receives. What is different is that you will not have to educate your provider or explain yourself before you can get help.
Why the practice exists
Dr. Corey Blanchette opened Golden Bear in San Leandro in 2022 to close a real gap in competent, judgment-free care for gender, romantic, and sexual minority (GRSM) communities, and for anyone who has left a doctor's office feeling unseen or unheard. In 2026, the City of San Leandro recognized Dr. Corey for his work supporting the local LGBTQIA+ community through the practice.

What inclusive care looks like here
Intake without assumptions
Your intake focuses on what matters for your care: your symptoms, your history, your goals, and how you move through your daily life. You are welcome to share the name and pronouns you use, and you will not be asked to justify your relationships, your body, or how you spend your time.
A clear explanation before hands-on care
Chiropractic care is physical. Before an exam or treatment, Dr. Corey explains what he plans to do and why. You can ask questions, ask for a different approach, pause, or stop at any time.
Confidentiality
Health information you share is kept confidential, the same as it is for every patient.
Care focused on how your body feels and functions
Care is about comfort, movement, and function, not about how your body looks. If something about your body, gender-affirming care, or your activities is relevant to your symptoms, you can bring it up without it becoming a big deal.
For allies and everyone else
You do not need to be part of the LGBTQIA+ community to be a patient. Allies, neighbors, and anyone who wants a thorough, respectful chiropractor are welcome. People of all shapes, sizes, gender identities, ethnicities, and levels of ability are welcome and respected here.
What Golden Bear helps with
Golden Bear treats the same range of musculoskeletal problems as any chiropractic practice, including back pain, neck pain, sciatica, headaches, shoulder pain, and repetitive strain.
Getting here
The office is at 151 Callan Ave, Suite 201, in downtown San Leandro, about a 10-minute walk from San Leandro BART. Free 2-hour parking is available in the adjoining lot, a nearby garage, or on the street. It is a straightforward trip from Oakland, Alameda, Hayward, and Castro Valley.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to be LGBTQIA+ to book?
No. Everyone is welcome.
Is the care different for LGBTQIA+ patients?
The clinical care is the same standard for everyone. The difference is the environment: competent, respectful, and free of judgment.
Do you take insurance?
Golden Bear is out-of-network with all insurance, including Medicare, and publishes flat prices before you book. A superbill is available on request if you want to submit to your plan yourself.
