This June, the City of San Leandro recognized Dr. Corey Blanchette and Golden Bear Chiropractic for his work supporting the local LGBTQIA+ (GRSM) community. It's an honor that reflects the reason the practice exists in the first place: to close a real gap in competent, judgment-free healthcare for a community that too often has to vet a provider before they can trust them.

GRSM — gender, romantic, and sexual minorities — is the broader term Dr. Corey uses alongside LGBTQIA+ to describe the communities Golden Bear was built to serve. Since opening in San Leandro in 2022, the practice has focused on GRSM-competent intake, judgment-free exam rooms, and care that never requires a patient to explain or justify who they are before getting treated.
What the award means for patients
Practically, nothing changes about how a visit works — the same thorough intake, the same hands-on adjustments and muscle work, the same flat, transparent pricing. What the recognition confirms is that the approach is working: patients are finding a provider who already knows how to talk to them, in a city that's noticing the difference that makes.
